Candid Story- Rejected

The three friends not only shared the apartment but also worked in the same office. Pratikshit, Aditya and Jugal were best friends turned colleagues. They knew each-other since school days.

But the story is not about them it is about their boss; Mr. Murali Nair .He was a man of principles. A strict disciplinarian. A hard-core professional.He believed that an employee should give the institution, not his hundred percent but two hundred percent. He wanted least number of absenteeism from his employees. But at the same time he had a soft corner for the employees who had serious problems or had genuine concern.

Pratikshit and Aditya were worldly-wise. They knew how to mould themselves according to the situation. In contrast to them Jugal was a simple, honest and sincere employee. He believed that come may what one should speak the truth. All three friends decided to take leave for 5 days and visit Dubai as they needed a break from the monotonous, dull and boring routine. They decided to talk to the boss on different occasions and get their leaves sanctioned. Pratikshit was the first one to ask for it.He met his boss and told him that he needed to visit his mom who was very unwell. The next day Aditya met the boss and informed him that a relative suffering from cancer would be visiting his place and would require him to accompany him to Tata Memorial Hospital.Mr.  Nair not only sanctioned the leave but also offered help if required.

Now the only person left was jugal.Pratikshit and Aditya tried to convince him that he should cook up a story as people buy sad stories at the drop of a hat but he refused.

He met the boss and told him that he was tired and bored with his routine life and needed a break for 5 days.Mr.Nair,looked at him with a smile on his face and said,  “Jugal, you are such a sincere employee. You know there is scarcity of staff. How could you even think of taking a leave now. I need you my boy. This institution needs you. Please drop the idea of taking a leave.” Jugal felt angry,dejected,disappointed and cheated. He left the cabin without uttering a word.
